We’re looking for an Academic Solutions Compliance Manager who ensures that Subject’s online courses and programs meet all requirements for approval by state departments of education where such approval is required. This role oversees the alignment of courses to state and national academic standards, manages contractor workflows for standards alignment and content gap remediation, and develops systems that support efficient compliance processes. The Academic Solutions Compliance Manager is a subject-matter expert in academic standards, state approval processes, and public school materials adoption requirements, and plays a key role in creating tailored course offerings for specific states. They will also contribute to proposal writing for RFP responses, ensuring academic sections are accurate, compelling, and compliant. Responsibilities
Program & Course Approval- Lead and manage the process for securing program and course approvals from state departments of education in all required states.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of varying state-specific requirements for public school course adoption.
- Prepare and submit approval documentation in compliance with each state’s guidelines, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Establish and maintain state course catalogs where required.
- Oversee a team of contractors responsible for aligning all courses to applicable state and national standards.
- Review and validate alignment work to ensure precision and completeness.
- Identify gaps in alignment and coordinate with content teams to create supplemental material to fill those gaps.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a standards database that supports automated reporting, metadata tagging, and custom course build functionality.
- Guide the integration of content metadata into Subject’s systems to streamline alignment reporting and custom curriculum assembly.
- Manage the design of state course suites — collections of courses curated and customized to meet specific state requirements — leveraging Subject’s complete content library.
- Ensure each suite is fully compliant with the state’s standards and course approval frameworks.
- Author academic and curriculum compliance sections of RFP responses, showcasing Subject’s ability to meet or exceed requirements.
- Collaborate with the proposal team to ensure accuracy and competitive positioning in responses to state and district procurement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of achieving successful program and course approvals across multiple states.
- Extensive experience with iNACOL/NSQ and WCAG compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of state and national academic standards, with demonstrated expertise in accurate standards alignment.
- Experience designing and managing standards databases and related compliance tools.
- Strong aptitude for metadata tagging and content management workflows for curriculum alignments and customizations.
- Demonstrated success managing contractor teams efficiently and effectively.
- Experience authoring proposals for educational programs, particularly in response to state department of education RFPs.
- Excellent organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to compliance documentation and reporting.
- Prior experience in K–12 online or blended learning environments.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital curriculum tools and development.
- Experience in instructional design or curriculum development.
