We're seeking a detail-oriented Billing System Analyst to work alongside our Finance, Billing, Engineering, and Product teams to drive the transition to and adoption of our new billing platform. This role sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and operations, requiring someone who can bridge the gap between traditional billing methods and modern automated systems.As our Billing System Analyst, you'll be the primary owner of ensuring our automated billing system produces accurate results that match our current invoicing processes. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and the Billing team to configure, test, and optimize our Lua-based billing automation while maintaining the accuracy and reliability our clients expect.
What You'll Do:
Billing Validation & Reconciliation:
Perform detailed comparisons between automated billing outputs and current invoice calculations to identify discrepancies
Investigate root causes of billing differences by analyzing rate structures, activity data, and system logic
Document and track discrepancies, working with Product and Engineering teams to resolve issues
Develop testing protocols to validate billing accuracy before and after system changes
Rate Management & System Configuration:
Load and configure complex 3PL rate structures into the automated billing system using Excel and data manipulation techniques
Translate manual rate cards and billing logic into system-readable formats
Configure Lua scripts for billing rules and rate application (with AI assistance and technical support)
Maintain rate accuracy across fulfillment, storage, and value-added service charges
Data Analysis & Process Improvement:
Analyze billing patterns and identify opportunities to streamline the transition process
Create reports and dashboards to monitor transition progress and system performance
Use logical reasoning to troubleshoot complex billing scenarios and edge cases
Develop documentation and standard operating procedures for the new automated processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Product Managers to define billing system requirements and prioritize enhancements
Work with Engineering teams to implement billing logic fixes and system improvements
Support the Billing team in understanding new automated processes and validating outputs
Communicate transition status, risks, and requirements to stakeholders across the organization
What You'll Need:
Core Requirements:
2+ years of experience in billing, data analysis, or business analysis roles, preferably in logistics, 3PL, or supply chain
Advanced Excel proficiency - ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, and rate loading processes
Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills with experience reconciling complex financial data
Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Finance
Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving capabilities
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with data structures and formats (JSON, CSV, database exports)
Willingness and aptitude to learn Lua scripting with AI assistance
Experience with SQL or similar database querying languages preferred
Comfort working with large datasets and identifying patterns/anomalies
Experience Preferred:
Previous experience managing transitions from manual to automated processes
Knowledge of 3PL billing structures (storage, fulfillment, transportation, VAS)
Experience with billing system implementations or migrations
Background in logistics or supply chain operations
