Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced German Speaking Account Executive to join our team. An Account Executive is responsible for fully understanding a client’s needs and determining whether a business can meet those needs. This role is primarily responsible for growth within their list of assigned accounts while ensuring the company’s products or services are delivered on time, on budget and up to the client’s standards. Being able to plan and implement strategies for existing major accounts to grow relationships, identify opportunities, and utilize account management skills is critical. This role requires full knowledge of the PDI product line and its applications, strong industry knowledge, and a solid understanding of the client's objectives and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Key Account Management
- Own and grow trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders, and executive sponsors.
- Deliver specialized support and service for new and existing accounts in line with organizational policies and procedures.
- Take ownership of complex customer inquiries and lead efforts to maintain and strengthen relationships.
- Customer Relationship Management & Prospecting
- Own the customer contact plan to communicate product launches and drive engagement in sales campaigns.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer queries, escalations, and resolution, ensuring timely and consistent outcomes.
- Lead Change Requests and other customer requirement processes end-to-end.
- Own customer communication cadence (QBR/Semi-Annual/Annual meetings):
- Define agendas and distribute meeting notes across PDI functions.
- Drive follow-up and ensure delivery of key initiatives.
- Sell Customer Propositions
- Own the matching of products and services to customer needs, using expertise to recommend and explain solutions.
- Drive customer purchasing decisions within established pricing and terms.
- Sales Opportunities & New Business Development
- Proactively identify and pursue new customers through referrals, recommendations, and industry events.
- Maintain full ownership of a healthy pipeline of opportunities and partner with New Business colleagues on major initiatives.
- Own ongoing analysis of sales and market data to identify new opportunities for growth.
- Customer Needs Clarification
- Set clear objectives for each customer interaction, deliver presentations, and take ownership of uncovering and addressing customer needs.
- Delivery Assurance
- Own the successful delivery of solutions and projects, ensuring outcomes align with customer objectives.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to secure timely, high-quality results.
- Customer Focus & Relationships
- Own initiatives to strengthen external customer relationships by driving internal communications and cross-team alignment.
- Commercial Terms
- Take ownership of contract negotiation, creation, and ongoing management to maximize profitability.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all contract-related matters.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data
- Own the accuracy and completeness of customer and opportunity data within business systems.
- Manage customer satisfaction targets and lead the annual customer survey process—analysing results, identifying root causes, and driving corrective programs.
- Own account reporting and profiling, including organizational mapping, relationship building, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Fluent German speaker (essential) – a high proportion of customer-facing activities are conducted exclusively in German.
- Extensive, proven experience in Senior Account Management/Key Account Management within the IT industry.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all organizational levels, including C-suite. Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Experience in delivering client-focused solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple account management tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and consistently building sales opportunities through effective time and task management.
- Deep experience using Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office tools (with strong proficiency in Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Sales, or a relevant field.
Preferred Skills
- Prior knowledge of Petroleum Forecourt and Convenience Retail an advantage.
- Other European languages desirable.
- Experience of working within Agile, ITIL and Prince2 environments desirable.
- Experience working within a matrixed organisation an advantage
