Position Overview:
As a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer at Diligent, you’ll be hands-on in shaping the foundation of our platform by designing and delivering secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure that powers our SaaS solutions. You’ll have the full breadth of AWS at your disposal and will work primarily with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK/Terraform) to build new environments or modernize existing ones, while also contributing to backend services in Node.js/TypeScript.
In this role, you’ll lead by example, owning infrastructure and services end-to-end—from design and automation to deployment and monitoring. You’ll drive architectural discussions, guide adoption of best practices in cloud engineering, and mentor others across the team. You’ll also be a key voice in evolving how we integrate AI-powered tools into our workflows to streamline development, improve quality, and boost productivity.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about building world-class cloud infrastructure, skilled in backend development, and excited to explore how AI can unlock faster and safer ways of working for themselves and their teammates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and own secure, scalable services, guiding technical decisions and evaluating trade-offs (including AI-driven components) to meet reliability, performance, and cost goals.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and prototyping, while rigorously validating outputs to ensure quality and safety.
- Advise on appropriate AI use (model concepts, prompt patterns, ethical/privacy considerations), embed monitoring and compliance checks into workflows, and document residual risks and mitigations.
- Coach peers on engineering best practices and AI-augmented approaches; partner with Product, Security, DevOps, and other teams to align on features, deployment, and compliance.
- Scout and pilot emerging tools or frameworks (including AI toolchains), integrate automated governance checks into pipelines, and enhance observability and incident response with an eye on productivity, cost, and resilience.
- Coach junior and mid-level engineers in infrastructure, backend development, and AI-augmented engineering practices.
Required Experience/Skills
- 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience in an agile environment, delivering secure, scalable services.
- Deep expertise with AWS CDK and/or Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS serverless architectures, IAM, secrets management, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in containerization with Docker, CI/CD pipeline design, and monitoring/logging solutions.
- Experience with Node.js/TypeScript, RESTful APIs (OpenAPI), SQL (PostgreSQL), and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of high-level LLM concepts such as hallucinations and prompt sensitivity, with skill in prompt engineering and safe AI use.
- Ability to apply secure-by-design principles in code and infrastructure and to review AI-assisted suggestions for safety.
- Experience implementing and maintaining observability solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, ELK).
- Hands-on knowledge of cloud networking concepts such as VPC design, subnetting, routing, load balancing, and connectivity patterns.
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to mentor peers, explain technical and AI-related concepts, and guide best practices.
- Familiarity with React or Angular for collaborating on end-to-end features is a plus.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
