Position Overview
We’re looking for a seasoned Software Engineering Manager with strong hands-on experience in software development using Node Js, TypeScript and React Js technologies, and an interest in applying modern tools, including AI, to enhance product capabilities. You’ll lead a cross-functional team of developers and QA engineers as we modernize a leading governance, risk, and compliance platform.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring teams, driving technical excellence, and exploring how smart automation and AI tools can improve both the product and the development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a cross-functional team, helping individuals grow through mentoring, feedback, and career development.
- Foster a collaborative, learning-focused engineering culture that values continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the design, coding, and testing of new features using agile practices.
- Support quality assurance efforts by contributing to automated testing strategies and practices.
- Explore and guide the use of AI tools and techniques where they add value, such as:
- Automating repetitive tasks and improving decision-making
- Detecting anomalies and forecasting trends
- Enhancing text processing (e.g., summarization, classification)
- Work with data and AI specialists to integrate models and APIs into the product.
- Promote responsible use of AI, including transparency and monitoring.
- Stay informed about new tools and frameworks and help the team evaluate and adopt them.
- Encourage the use of AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot or automated code review systems.
Required Experience/Skills
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 3+ years of experience managing teams in an agile environment.
- Strong hands-on development background in a commercial software setting.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and branching strategies like GitFlow.
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts and how they can be applied in real-world software.
- Understanding how AI models are trained, deployed, and maintained.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience with Node Js, TypeScript and React technologies, and cloud platforms like AWS.
- Familiarity with service-oriented architectures and messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ).
- Experience with tools that support machine learning operations
- Hands-on experience integrating AI APIs
- Use of AI-powered developer tools
- A curiosity for learning new languages, frameworks, and technologies.
