Sr. Major Programs Architect
Databricks
FEQ426R409
The Sr. Major Programs Architect will drive Databricks’ “sell through” strategy across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), with a primary focus on architecting Lakehouse solutions and data integration for key Defense Programs of Record (PORs). This role is independent yet collaborative with direct DIB account teams, ensuring architectural consistency for vertical solutions across defense ecosystems and aligning with end government agencies. This Major Programs Architect role is critical for Databricks’ growth in the U.S. defense sector, supporting enterprise-grade, multi-year initiatives and acting as the solution backbone for major DIB partners and government agencies.
The impact you will have:
- Mapping Data Sources Across Agencies: Identify, catalog, and integrate data from sensors, logistics, operations, intelligence, and other systems across branches and partners into unified Databricks architectures for major programs of record.
- Ensuring POR Alignment & Vertical Integration: Work with DIB organizations to implement solutions that are repeatable/leveraged for vertical use cases (e.g., supply chain, command & control, maintenance) within each defense sector, ensuring government/defense agency alignment.
- Driving Cross-Agency Collaboration: Serve as the technical bridge between DIB innovators and end-user defense agencies, guiding unified strategy, architecture adoption, and technical direction for major federal initiatives.
- Program Support: Support large-scale, high-value multi-year program pursuits. Work closely with partners developing bid/capture collateral (reference architectures, technical documentation, solution briefs, white papers etc.)
- Field Engineering & Enablement: Deliver advanced technical workshops, hands-on demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical documentation for DIB companies and government clients.
- Compliance and Security: Design architectures for DOD compliance, including IL5+ environments, and advise on regulatory and security best practices relevant to federal defense operations.
- Customer and Partner Advocacy: Act as a trusted advisor and represent customer and partner interests with Databricks engineering/product teams to drive enhancements.
What we look for:
- 8+ years of experience architecting large-scale data/AI solutions in the public sector, defense, or DIB environments.
- Track record of architecting, operationalizing, and enabling Databricks (or similar) solutions for highly regulated, mission-critical government programs.
- Proven expertise in mapping, integrating, and governing diverse data sources across defense domains; deep understanding of defense program operational requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, adept at engaging DIB companies, program integrators, and government customers
- Demonstrated ability to design architectures for multi-domain operations, real-time militarized analytics, and edge computing in support of mission-critical applications
- Detailed knowledge of DOD, IC, and federal compliance requirements (IL5+, CMMC, DFARS, etc.)
- Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
